Our optometry team at Winchester Optical is proud to provide eye care services for Winchester, Burlington, Lexington, Stoneham, Medford, Reading, Woburn, Arlington and Melrose MA. Any optometrist on our team will be happy to help you with services including:
Eye Exam - An annual eye exam is critical if you want to make absolutely sure your eyes are in good shape. We perform a variety of sophisticated tests and evaluations to check for eye diseases, eye teaming and coordination issues, eye dominance (a phenomenon known as "lazy eye") and other problems that might affect your eyesight whether it be now or in the future.
Eye Disease Diagnosis & Treatment - Our diagnostic equipment and techniques allow us to view the eye in detail, inside and out. Slit-lamp testing and retinal evaluations under pupil dilation let us detect even the early signs of glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other conditions. We can then prescribe medications, injections and other treatments as needed to preserve or improve your eyesight.
Vision Testing - Vision testing is a crucial step for detecting and treating common refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism (or even a combination of these). By studying your ability to read the lines of an eye chart, we can determine the precise degree of refractive correction you may need. We can also check peripheral vision and other measures of visual acuity.
Eye Glasses - Once we have "dialed in" your exact prescription for vision correction, you can order your glasses from us instead of going to a separate optician. Our own optician can direct you toward a range of beautiful frame shapes and designs, taking all the necessary measurements to make sure your new glasses work perfectly. We will then fabricate your new glasses right here in our clinic.
Contact Lens Exam & Fitting - We're also happy to fit you for contact lenses instead of (or alongside) glasses. Our optician will perform an additional contact lens exam using corneal topography to determine the exact dimensions and contours of your eyes. We can then perform fittings to ensure that your contact lenses are comfortable and effective.
Specialty Contact Lens Care - Some eye disorders call for specific types of contact lenses, notably keratoconus, astigmatism, presbyopia (and age-related refractive disorder) and dry eyes. We can advise you on your options and then create contact lenses specially designed to meet your specific needs -- such as rigid gas permeable lenses instead of soft lenses for the most accurate possible correction of severe vision problems.
Eye Surgery Consultation, Pre-operative and Post-operative Care - If you plan to undergo cataract removal or some other form of eye surgery, our optometry team can help. We provide eye surgery consultation, pre-operative exams and measurements, and post-operative evaluations to help you achieve the best possible long-term results from your surgery.
